Transcribing pieces of music by ear is a time-consuming and frustrating task. Especially with more complex pieces, you have to listen to passages for hours to find out which notes are being played. But this tedious work has now come to an end! Thanks to the power of Klangio‘s artificial intelligence, you can now convert audio from music recordings into sheet music within seconds and zero effort! I’ll show you how to do this in this step-by-step tutorial.
Read on, or simply watch the YouTube tutorial:
Step 1: Find a music recording
First, of course, you need a recording that you want to transcribe. Recordings of individual instruments, such as a piano, guitar or vocals, work best. Arrangements with many instruments at the same time are more difficult to transcribe. Tools such as Melody Scanner can also convert complex pieces into piano arrangements.
The file formats hardly play a role. MP3, WAV or even links to YouTube videos – no problem as long as it is a clear recording.
Step 2: Starting the automatic transcription
As soon as you have selected your recording, you can start with the transcription. There is a separate application for each instrument:
- Piano2Notes – Transcribing piano recordings
- Guitar2Tabs – Transcribing guitar and bass recordings
- Sing2Notes – Transcribing vocals
- MelodyScanner – Transcribing songs into piano arrangements
Behind each software is an AI that is specially trained to analyze its respective instrument.
The steps are simple:
- Click on one of the links listed above.
- Upload your music file with drag & drop or paste in a YouTube link
- Enter a title and composer for the transcription
- Optional: Add further information about the piece.
- Click on “Transcribe”
The AI now creates a sheet of music within seconds. Impressive, isn’t it?
Step 3: Play and download demo transcription
You now have access to a 20 second demo transcription. You can play back the transcription in your browser by clicking on the play button at the bottom left.
Of course, you can also download your transcription. Simply click on “Download” in the top right-hand corner and then select “Export PDF”. And now you have a free sheet of music to match your music.
Step 4: Full transcriptions and more features
Of course, you can also transcribe your entire piece with the apps. All you have to do is upgrade to a full transcription.
You will now see the complete sheet music for your piece and can download other formats such as MIDI, MusicXML and GuitarPro files, which you can edit in the software of your choice. You can now also use the Edit Mode, which allows you to easily edit your sheet music in the browser.
AI transcription makes the work much easier. Whether you want to preserve old music, write down your own compositions or simply record song ideas – this technology makes it quick and easy. Simply try it out for free and let Klangio‘s AI Magic convert your audio into sheet music. The results will inspire you!
