Transpose the Key #

The "Traspose Sheet" Menu of Klangio's Edit Mode
Enter how many semitones you want to transpose your piece

To transpose the key of your transcription, basically shifts all the played notes by your selected amount of semitones. For guitarists, it’s like using a capo. This can come in very handy if you want your transcription to match a song in a different key afterward. Simply click on + and – to adjust how many semitones you want to tune the transcription up or down. The displayed notes will then adjust after you click on transpose.

Change the Note Duration #

If the tempo was picked up by half, or double the BPM you intended it to be, this setting can help out. By clicking on “2.0x” you can stretch out the notes, and by clicking on “0.5x” you compress them by half.

Select a Split Point (Piano2Notes only) #

The "Plit-Point" Menu of Klangio's Edit Mode
Select the Split Point

The split point determines the separation of which hand plays which notes on the piano. Choosing a higher split point means, that the left hand will cover a bigger range of notes and vice versa. Simply click on the “+” or “-” button to change it. The preview will display how your sheet music will change. Once you’re done, click on “APPLY”.

Change the Time Signature #

Most commonly, the 4/4 time signature is used, especially in Pop Songs. If however the AI did not estimate it correctly, you can switch between that and the 3/4 time signature by clicking on these buttons.

Adjust the Pickup Bar #

This setting basically lets you shift all your notes further to the left or the right, by clicking on the arrow buttons. This allows you to adjust, which note is the one of the measurement, in case it wasn’t detected correctly.

Save and Revert Changes #

Use the undo, redo and save buttons in the top right corner.

Frequently Asked Questions #

How do I edit chords or add a chord notation for a bar?

In order to edit the chords, a note in that bar needs to be selected; after that, the chord option at the top will no longer be grayed out. You can also click on existing chord notations and change them individually.
Please remember to save your editing progress regularly to avoid losing any changes due to an unexpected crash, for example.

Why don’t I see the Edit Mode button when using the browser on my phone/tablet?

On mobile browsers, we hide Edit Mode because it’s very hard to use on small screens. Please open the same project on a laptop or desktop to take full advantage of our editing features.

Can I change the BPM of my sheet?

The tempo can currently only be halved or doubled (x0.5 or x2) using the transcriptions settings (top left) in our edit mode.

How can I delete a note?

Notes cannot be deleted, as then that bar would no longer match the timesignature. When deleting a note, it will be changed into a rest. To remove the rest, you can lengthen another note instead.

How can I add lyrics when using the Klangio Transcription Studio?

Lyrics can only be detected if vocals are selected to be one of the transcribed instruments. If this is not the case, then you can change that in the transcription setting (button in the top left corner of your sheet) and then by retranscribing your piece. Lyrics can not be uploaded separately for our AI to add them to your sheet.

Will lyrics show up in the downloaded version of my transcription?

Lyrics will be automatically detected if vocals are selected and can be shown in the PDF and MusicXML export. Lyrics are not yet included in the MIDI export.

Can I add slurs and ties to my transcription?

Yes, in our Edit Mode, you can connect notes with ties or slurs to merge their durations. Simply select a note and click the tie icon in the toolbar.

Can I customize the PDF download of my sheet?

The Klangio PDF export is not meant for advanced sheet customization. We suggest downloading the MusicXML file instead and opening it with a composition software (MuseScore, Dorico, Finale, or Sibelius) and customizing your sheet there.
