What kind of file formats can I upload to Klangio?

If you’re curious to find out what kind of file types and file formats you can upload to the different Klangio apps, then you’ve come to the right place.

Different File Formats (.mp3, .wav, …) #

The Klangio apps allow you to upload the following file formats to conduct a transcription.

Audio:

  • .wav
  • .mp3
  • .mpeg
  • .aiff
  • .ogg
  • .flac
  • .midi
  • .mid
  • .vnd.wave
  • .m4a
  • .x-m4a
  • .x-wav
  • .x-aiff
  • .vorbis
  • .x-mpegurl

You can also upload videos encoded in the “.mp4” format, use a YouTube Link for a transcription, or record your instrument directly.

You can now also transcribe Instagram Reels into sheet music. Simply copy the Reel’s share/link URL and paste it into the “Paste a YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok link” field, then start your transcription.

The Reel must be publicly accessible, with clear audio and within our length limits. Very noisy or distorted audio can reduce accuracy.

If you are looking to upload PDF files or pictures of your sheet music and create a digital version that can be edited and downloaded, for example, as a MusicXML file, then you will love Scan2Notes. You can find out more about the different upload file options for Scan2Notes here.

Size and Length of the File #

You can upload files that are up to 15 minutes long and have a size of up to 100 MB. If you want to transcribe a song that is shorter than 15 minutes but bigger than 100 MB, you can compress it into an .mp3 file. Simply google for “compress mp3 online” to find a tool that works for you.

If you want to use the recording option, your song is limited to 5 minutes

Note that a demo transcription will only transcribe the first 20 seconds of the uploaded audio, while a full transcription will transcribe the whole song.

Feel free to check out the other articles in our Help Center if you have further questions about what kind of files you can upload and transcribe with Klangio.
